Montrésor is listed as one of the 'Most beautiful villages in France', it is indeed a very pretty place. The delightful Château de Montrésor sits on its prominent position overlooking the village while the in the heart of the upper village, there is what seems an overly grand church dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Built between 1519 & 1541
Loches – Considered the most picturesque town in the Centre region lies at the foot of a large rock out crop. Looking over the town are the remains of one of the most powerful XI century castles in the region, which offers a commanding view over the surrounding countryside. the 15th century Royal Lodge was the meeting place of the King of France and Joan of Arc in 1429. The town provides good supermarkets, restaurants and a twice weekly traditional market.
Saint Aignan - a medieval town situated on the river Cher with small cobbled streets and some ancient architecture over looked by an impressive, but private château. A good selection of restaurants provide for most tastes and you can take a boat trip along the river Cher.
Zoo Parc Beauval - According to Forbes Magazine, the Zoo Parc de Beauval is the third best zoological garden in the world. Opened in 1980, home of more than 4000 animals. its most impressive part is probably the mini safari park, where you can observe, for example, giraffes, zebras and rhinos from a very close distance. Visitors usually include in their visit very popular seal or bird shows. The 5 hectare elephant enclosure was chosen as the new home for the Elephants of London zoo when their exhibit was finally closed.
Brenne National Park - is said to be one of France’s best kept secrets this is probably due to the size of the area and its ability to remain hidden from the casual tourist. The park achieved national status in 1989 and has over 1000 lakes and 260 species of birds. Many nature lovers and bird watchers now make this their annual destination making use of the numerous ‘hides’ and observation points dotted around the park.
